SIZE
In the 1/2 lb. to 20 lb. range, but higher weights of
100 lbs are possible.
SURFACE FINISH
Normally in the 125-300 rms range.
WALL THICKNESS
A wall thickness of .060" can be
obtained for certain castings and .125" is practical for castings up to 14"
in any one direction.
GENERAL TOLERANCES
Up through
1” ± .005”
Over
1” ± .015 + ±.002
in/in.
over 1"
CORED HOLES
A cored opening less than 1/4". in diameter usually
is not practical. In some specific cases, however, holes of 1/8"
diameter or even smaller are possible if formed by stationary core pins.
ALLOYS
Included among the alloys that may
be cast: A206, 319, 333, 356, 360, 380, 518 |
DRAFT
Typically 2-4 degrees draft.
FILLETS
Adequate fillets at all wall intersections and at all
angles where bosses or depressions are involved are almost mandatory for the
proper flow of metal. Sharp angles weaken the castings and may cause cracks
during solidification or removal from mold.
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Tensile-Yield-Elongation – as per the appropriate
commercial and military specifications.
DELIVERY
Samples 4 to 12 weeks. Production
2 to 6 weeks after
approval.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Major uses include piston and
other functional parts of internal combustions engines, marine engine and
structural parts, textile machine parts, motor housings, portable tool
parts, fan cases, medical related equipment. |
